Vijile
Desktop Application / Freelance Tool

Description
Vijile was born from a personal frustration: existing time tracking tools either require constant manual input or charge a monthly subscription for data that should stay private.
The premise was simple: build a tool that runs silently in the background, monitors active applications every 2 seconds, and automatically categorizes time by client and project. No timer, no manual entry, no friction.
A fully personal project, Vijile covers the entire product spectrum: positioning, interface design, desktop application development, and landing page.
Project details
My solution
The application is built around an architecture designed for performance and privacy:
- ▸Rust detection engine: under 1% CPU usage and less than 3MB in memory, running silently in the background without impacting your system.
- ▸Tauri for cross-platform desktop packaging, with no heavy embedded browser.
- ▸Vue 3 for a reactive and fluid user interface.
- ▸SQLite for 100% local storage, zero cloud sync, data fully under your control.
- ▸Automatic categorization via configurable keyword matching, enhanced by an adaptive learning mechanism that refines rules over time.
- ▸Astro landing page for peak loading performance and green Core Web Vitals scores.
Results
Early-adopter licenses distributed at launch, with strong positive reception from the freelance and independent developer community.
Vijile establishes itself as a serious alternative to Rize or Toggl Pro for privacy-conscious and performance-oriented users.
The project technically validates the local-first approach for time tracking and paves the way for a sustainable business model without cloud infrastructure.
